How do I find a marriage certificate?
I am trying to find a marriage certificate when William Grancier Embry III & Nancy Duncan were married. The information I have is they were married on December 22, 1785 in NC. I have been told that Nancy was an indian. It was common for an indian woman be given the name of Nancy. Nancy was born about 1760 in Indian Territory, NC. And died unknown, possibly in Butler County, KY.If anyone can help me, I most appreciate it.
Thank you for your time.
God Bless
Lisa
Look for church or Bible records in addition to online records and published books and genealogical journals. Have you checked the Family History Library catalog and local historical associations? Knowing the county would be very helpful, as the marriage may have been recorded with the county. The county courthouse, library or historical association may have records.

Try finding information about siblings. They may have married in the same county.
